Pre WW2 Europe saw the first conception of modern design. In particular Germany’s Bauhaus School fostered and defined this move toward the modern and gave rise to some of the greatest designers of all time. Through the middle of the century this group of designers moved to use the new technologies and social ideals of the day, to defy traditional ideals of décor and ornament and created a whole new aesthetic based on form and function. The pieces created during this era by this select group of designers are regarded as “Modern Classics”. wasser's is proud to lead the marketplace in supplying Authentic Designer Licensed Items or Approved Reproductions of modern classic furnishings.
At wasser’s quality workmanship has been integral for four generations.
We strongly believe that the best designed furniture executed poorly is not worth placing in our home and in turn, we would not place it in yours.
In our MODERN CLASSICS Premier Collection we strive to be price competitive AND at the same time offer the customer a better product than the competition.
We are strict with our suppliers to ensure that every item is a faithful reproduction of the design, applying only modifications that the original designer themselves made.
We use materials that are exacting to the original or where materials have changed due to mass production we ensure that the end result is both beautiful and durable.
We specify 304 Grade Stainless Steel for both the visible and invisible structure of our furniture. This is contract grade and does not fatigue like lower grades. It is chromed and then 100% inspected before assembly.
Leather is imported fully finished for use from Italy. We specify Aniline and Semi-Aniline natural grain not artificially embossed top grain ‘veneer’ or ‘splits’. The treatments and dyes used fully conform with American, European and British standards. None of our pieces from our Premier Collection incorporate imitation leather, not even on the undersides of cushions or detailing.
Zippers and fasteners are in the same hidden positions that the designers themselves originally chose. Cushion pads are flame retardant and again comply with relevant standards.
